We had a wonderful time last night at our annual Trivium Night parent-teacher curriculum confab. The big takeaway for sure is just how talented our faculty is. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and pious group of educators who are able both to model Christian virtue in their classrooms, as well as teach their students our rigorous Classical Catholic curriculum. Incredible learning is going on every day in our classrooms, that is for certain.
We also rolled-out our new Parents Auxiliary, designed to help support and enhance the quality of life for our students, and to build intentional Christian fellowship among the families. We discussed the variety of committee sign-ups from Back-to-School Night, and introduced those parents who volunteered to be Classroom Reps for each of our homerooms. Look for emails soon from the reps introducing themselves, and letting you know about upcoming school initiatives.
And speaking of upcoming events, our big priority now is to get everyone on-board for our first annual St. Francis Feast Day Festival and Walkathon scheduled for Saturday, October 5th here at the SFCCA/MBS Campus. Below is a link to all you need to know about what we have scheduled, and how you can participate. The bottom-line is that our twin goals are to raise at least $10,000 for the school, and to foster solidarity and friendships among our families. There are competitions among the students for the most money raised (earning them a pizza party of yours truly), and the most miles walked per capita by homeroom (securing a coveted dress-down day). It promises to be a fun and rewarding day, and I urge all of you to find some way to help make this the start of a great tradition here at Saint Francis Classical. We are shooting for 100% participation. This will be a great opportunity for our new Parents Auxiliary and Classroom Reps see what they can do.
Finally, the Bishop is coming in October! And we have been asked to support his two visits through our music program. On Tuesday, October 1st at 4:30pm, our Grades 3-10 Choir has been asked to sing at Bishop Schlert's Confirmation Mass at MBS; and on Sunday, October 6th, we will be performing with other musicians at the Bishop's dedication of the new organ at MBS. There were sign-ups last night for the students sing at one or both visits, and so if you are able to have your child sing, please let your homeroom teachers know (Grades 3-10). Of course, for younger students and families, we would love to have you attend these ceremonies. It would be great to have a packed house for Bishop Schlert.
