Today, on this Friday in the Octave of Easter, all parishes in the Diocese of Allentown have been directed by His Excellency, Bishop Alfred Schlert, to toll their bells 88 times at noon, one ring for each year of Pope Francis' life.
What a beautiful act of honour and reverence for a life spent in service to the the Lord. Our school is honoured to participate in such a beautiful ceremony.
We also honour Mark the Evangelist today, whose Gospel is account is thought to be some of the earliest Christian writings in history. Mark's Gospel is short and sweet, keeping to the essentials without a whole lot of commentary, allowing the deeds of Christ to speak for themselves.
A good reminder for all of us: talk is cheap; actions matter most.
Have a blessed Easter Friday!
